How To Easily Remove Mildew Odours From Towels?

Let’s face it – your kitchen towels have probably smelled terrible at some point. Of course, this is actually super common and somewhat normal. If you use your kitchen towel to wipe up any water spills and the towel gets saturated on regular basis then it will start to have that horrible mildew smell whenever it cannot properly dry.

Unfortunately, in most cases, this smell doesn’t go away even when your wash the towels in your washing machine in the hottest setting possible. You take them out of the appliance only to find that they still smell bad.

How To Remove Mildew Odours From Towels?

You need a few household ingredients – water, baking soda, vinegar. Yes, you do not need to go out and buy any fancy cleaner nor do you need to make some complicated DIY recipe for a cleaner – you just need vinegar, baking soda, and water!

The first thing you need is to wash your towels in your washing machine, however, add vinegar where you normally place the fabric softener.

If that doesn’t work and the towels still smell terrible, run another cycle with them, however, this time add half a cup of baking soda without any detergents or a fabric softener. Baking soda does wonders when it comes to removing bad smells because it absorbs them!

Next, simply let the towels dry. I recommend you let them air-dry by taking them outside!

  • Always let them air-dry outside after washing them in your washing machine!
